A BRIEF HISTORY of this AIRCRAFT

The first total restoration of the aircraft was signed off 09-08-1994. It was completely restored for Hugh Eaton in Connecticut. This was the first complete and total restoration of this aircraft. It was taken completely apart and was sandblasted and painted. All new Fuselage wood was built for it.

The aircraft had a gear up landing in 09-08-1994 see log book entry.

The installation of the autopilot was done in 05-02-1995.

The fuselage was recovered in 06-1999 with Ceconite 102.

Gemco performed our first maintenance on this aircraft in 03-14-2001 which included installation of new Cleveland wheel and brakes conversion

Gemco recovered the remaining components of the aircraft in 09-22-2003 everything was recovered in Ceconite 102. The reason for the recovery was that the paint always felt sticky ever since it was first done in 1991 and Hugh was just tire of the sticky feeling. The underlying condition of all the wood in the aircraft is excellent.

The aircraft was then sold to the Current owner, Mr. Steve McNeil of Santa Fe, NM in 05-2014. And went through a lot of major changes see log book entry dated 05-13-2014.

In 2017 preparation began for an around the world flight two new upper wings were built to include upper wing tanks, and leading-edge recognition lights, to bring the total fuel to 170 gallons. The aircraft now has the 6-tank arrangement. Both upper wings were recovered at this time. A zero-time engine was also built for the aircraft, by Tulsa Aircraft Engines, in preparation for the around the world flight. All existing fuel and oil hoses were replaced at this time and many were upgraded to Teflon as required. At this time the total time of the aircraft was 2887 with a Hobbs meter reading of 883.8. The Hobbs meter was then replaced with a new digital Hobbs reading 0000.0. The engine total time was also 00.0, propeller total time is unknown but has 00.0 TTSMOH,

The aircraft current times, with a Hobbs meter reading of 56.4, is as follows: Total time since new 2943.4 hours. Engine total time and time since major overhaul is 56.4 hours. Prop total time since new is unknown, total time since major overhaul is 56.4 hours.
